Watch and/or participate in our newest workers' self-inquiry
Whether or not you are in the collective
Hi y’all,
We want to reapproach some of our key texts, mainly “The Industrialization of Education.” It was written mostly from the perspective of school workers. Its main author, Rybin (AKA Proletarian Pedagogue) is a schoolteacher, and most of the research and analysis focuses on K-12 schooling. The document you can find on our Substack integrates substantial comments made during the editing process from a library worker, a daycare worker, and a student worker at a university. But it still falls short on including an analysis of the industrialization of education in other sectors of the industry such as libraries, museums, colleges, private schools, daycares, and archives. That leaves some pretty big blind spots in a text meant for all education workers.
We want as many education workers of all backgrounds as possible to help us reapproach The Industrialization of Education. Ultimately, the goal is to create a “Second Edition” of the text that is far more inclusive. Whether or not you want to formally join our collective or actively participate in writing, we still want you to come away with the skills to create your own workers’ self-inquiries. Throughout this process, we’ll be leaving up all our comments, notes, and sources available to give concrete demonstrations of our process. Below, you can find the link to a google document with what will become the first draft of the text’s second edition. If you would like to help out in any way, follow the link and request access. Or reach out to us in any way that works best for you.
