It was very hard for me to give up Music Education at first because I wanted to help so many specail needs kids who get screwed over or become inspiration porn from music programs and charities like United Sound which drank BOA's Koolaide and joined their monopoly. Yet the dean at Mott Community College, people in the Flint New Horizons band, and Chuck Russel my brass instructor supported me and told me to never stop learning about music regardless of not having a degree on your wall or an ivory dorm room. I love learning about Volksmusik because I play the tuba and grew up in a German American family. You can't learn this genre from the academic or music theory point of view because it ruins the history and engaging culture of that genre. Plus the Voll in Volksmusik means Music Belonging to All People in German and is a philosophy of music education we need more of
